About Giving at Thanksgiving |
| Giving at Thanksgiving provides food baskets for Thanksgiving to families in the United Power service territory facing hardships. The program is funded and coordinated entirely by United Power employees who purchase, assemble and deliver all the fixings for a Thanksgiving meal -- and enough to stock the pantry for an additional week. United Power employees have traditionally raised funds to provide the food baskets through an employee auction and other small fundraisers held throughout the year. These efforts have allowed them to provide about 75 baskets each year to local families. The inaugural softball tournament in 2010 provided food baskets for an additional 25 families last Thanksgiving. United Power's employees hope to feed over 100 families in 2011 with the money raised from the 2nd Annual Employee Association Charity Softball Tournament. |
