About Giving at Thanksgiving
Giving at Thanksgiving provides food baskets in the fall to families in need and is funded and coordinated entirely by employees of United Power. United Power employees traditionally fund the Giving at Thanksgiving program through an employee auction and other small fundraisers throughout the year. These fundraising efforts allow them to provide about 75 food baskets to local families.
After their annual fundraising efforts, employees purchase food from local grocers to provide the food baskets for needy families in the service territory. On a Saturday in November, United Power employees and their families spend the day assembling and delivering the boxes of food. The boxes include enough goodies to provide a complete Thanksgiving meal, and enough additional food to stock the pantry for another week.
