Wind, downed trees causing outages in Mountain Territory

Updated at 4:00 p.m. – Crews have found several trees down in the power lines which they are working to remove. United Power has also contacted the Gilpin County Fire Department since the wind is creating a fire risk. Crews will remain on site to remove the trees and rebuild the lines. Updated at 2:15 p.m. – Approximately 1,000 United Power members in the mountain territory are being affected by an outage. The outage began just after 2:00 p.m. Winds may be the possible cause, but crews are in route to determine the cause.
