Energy Efficient Appliances

Energy Efficient Appliances

◄ Rebates & Programs Online Appliance Rebate Form Energy Star®

Replacing your old appliances with newer, more energy efficient products is a quick way to see immediate saving on your monthly statement. To help you make the most of your energy, United Power members can now receive rebates on the purchase of NEW Energy Star® qualified appliances. Rebates are available on select refrigerators, freezers, clothes washers and dishwashers. United Power will also provide a recycling credit when you have your old refrigerator or freezer recycled.

Select Energy Star® appliances may qualify for the following rebates:

Appliance Rebate
New Energy Star® Refrigerator/Freezer $30
New Energy Star® Clothes Washer $40
New Energy Star® Dishwasher  $20
Refrigerator/Freezer Recycling Credit* $75

For a list of qualified appliances, go to EnergyStar.gov. More details about the rebate and refrigerator recycle programs are in the accordion sections below.

Energy Star Rebate/Recycle Application

Due to COVID-19, United Power offices are temporarily closed to walk-in visitors and our New Business team is working remotely. This may result in a temporary delay in our ability to process mail-in rebate applications. Please use our online rebate application for the fastest response.

What is Energy Star®?

Look for this logo on your new appliance purchases. The Energy Star® logo is on all qualified products that meet specific standards for energy efficiency. Qualified products exceed federal minimum standards for efficiency and quality – sometimes significantly. Look for the label on appliances, electronics, water heaters, windows and other products that consume energy in your home.

EnergyGuide Label

To help you figure out whether an appliance is energy efficient, the federal government requires most appliances to display the bright yellow and black EnergyGuide label. Although these labels will now show you which appliance is the most efficient on the market, they will show you the annual energy consumption and operating cost for each appliance so you can compare them yourself.

Flip Your Fridge

Older refrigerators are costly to operate and leave a large carbon footprint on the environment. In fact, refrigerator models 15 years or older use twice as much energy as new Energy Star® models. Why not recycle that old energy wasting fridge, and replace it with a new Energy Star® certified model? You'll save money and help the environment. Find the exact savings with the Energy Star® Savings Calculator.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why isn’t there a rebate for clothes dryers?

Typically, clothes dryers do not receive the Energy Star® label. The best way to improve efficiency and save energy while doing laundry is by improving the efficiency of your clothes washer. High-efficiency clothes washers use less water to wash and wring out more water from your clothes, which means your dryer doesn’t have to work as hard or run as long.

Why do you need the original EnergyGuide label from my appliance?

The ORIGINAL EnergyGuide label is required for all rebate requests in order to verify purchase of an approved Energy Star® appliance. Your model number should appear in the upper right corner of your EnergyGuide label.

I didn’t buy a new refrigerator, but I want to recycle the one in my garage. Can I get a Recycling Credit?

Yes. United Power’s Recycling Credit is available to members for recycling old refrigerators. You must provide proof that either a retailer hauled your old appliance away or that a reputable appliance recycler disposed of your refrigerator or freezer.

Recycling credits are limited to two (2) per membership, per year.
