Service Requests Based on Size
NOTICE:
Large Load Inquiries Paused Until May 1, 2026
United Power will be joining the Southwest Power Pool's Regional Transmission Organization Expansion on April 1.
Although joining the regional market will provide long-term value through increased access to transmission and wholesale energy, it will have a significant impact on the cooperative's current large load interconnection process. All large load inquiries 10 MW and above will be paused effective immediately.
The pause will remove the possibility of duplicate submittals, studies, and fees, and allow us to responsibly manage our future members' time and investment.
What is a Large Load?
At United Power, a Large Load is defined as any service location requiring more than 10 megawatts (MW).
Who should use this process?
The United Power large load request process is for organizations planning major power needs — especially those building or operating hyperscale data centers.
An organization or developer should use this process if:
- You expect to need over 10 MW at a single site
- You are a hyperscale operator, developer, or investor
- You plan to own, lease, or develop a large data center campus
- You have significant experience running 20+ data centers worldwide
- You have or are pursuing energy partnerships totaling 200 MW or more
Timelines & Communication
Each large load request will be assigned a Key Accounts Advisor and a project manager to support communication throughout the process.
- Applicants are expected to respond to information requests in a timely manner to keep the project on track.
- Most questions and follow-ups are typically resolved within 2-3 business days, though response times may vary depending on project complexity.
- Ongoing communication will occur as needed to support progress through each phase.
